Notre peur de n'être

Texte et mise en scène:
Fabrice Murgia

Théâtre National

Throughout his rich and fruitful career, Fabrice Murgia has never stopped asking questions about contemporary society, by exploring themes such as solitude, new technologies, childhood... He takes elements from his own working-class and activist background, feeding on reality and on his research, in order to stage shows that are both lively and thought-provoking. With his new play Notre peur de n’être, which recently won a Silver Lion at the Venice Biennale, he goes even further, by examining today’s virtual world with neither doom-mongering nor blind optimism. It is a complete and visually stimulating play, firmly characterised by hope, utopias and the transformation of the world. Notre peur de n’être examines our civilisation, its ills and its crises, with an optimistic eye focussed on the future. The director speaks admirably about our youth “who need to hope”, about their strengths and their spirit, through the prism of new technologies as sources of expression and the rise of a counter-culture.
