In the Desert Blues tradition, the Acoustic Africa Tour is the meeting point on stage of three virtuosos of the acoustic guitar and traditional African blues. HABIB KOITE (Mali), talented guitarist-singer whose Mandinka blues takes its roots in the musical traditions of the peoples of Mali (Bambara, Malinké, Tuareg and Songhai). OLIVIER MTUKUDZI (Zimbabwe), an immensely talented guitarist who counts among his most ardent fans the great American blues singer and guitarist, Bonnie Raitt. The music of Olivier Mtukudzi, affectionately nicknamed "Tuku" by his fans, is inspired by chimurenga, the traditional rhythms of Zimbabwe, and by mbaqanga, from South Africa. It's irresistible, exciting and rousing music in the southern African tradition. AFEL BOCUM (Mali) is the heir to the late Ali Farka Touré. His blues is coloured by the desert and pulsates to the rhythms of the Niger River. His music is both universal and personal in style, but above all it is rooted in the history of the Songhai people whose values, spirit of resistance and aspirations it incarnates.
