On 12 January 2010, an earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale struck the western region of the Republic of Haiti. Hitting so close to the island nation's economic and urban heart, this natural disaster destroyed everything. Foretold for years, the threat was not properly taken into account. This short documentary retraces the drama and shows all of the courage and energy deployed by both Haitians and foreigners to mend the chaos.

Out of Competition.

The film will be followed by a meeting about Haiti's future, the immense political and social challenges faced today by this country, and how the crisis was handled by international actors, but also the future of the extremely rich Haitian culture which has always competed with the vision of this country associated with poverty and its leaders' despotism.

With Rodney Saint Eloi (Haitian writer, literary critic and editor, author of Haiti, Kenbe la, mon pays éventré en 35 secondes et tout à reconstruire, 2010) and Eliane Deproost (general secretary of CAL, who worked for many years in Haiti at the end of the 1990's).
