Hardy Vallejos, like many Chileans, earns a living by selling trinkets amidst the chaos of Santiago's bus system. In 2005, the government decided to modernise public transport in order to reach the level of a "world-class country". This new system no longer has a place for small itinerant vendors. In just a few weeks, Hardy and thousands of other workers united in a fight for their life against official modernity. Using many forms to state their claims, the informal economy resists the dogma of globalisation.
