Monsters of hip-hop from De La Soul's crew, Plug 1 & Plug 2 will be using the Festival des Libertés to showcase their new artistic and musical show ‘First Serve’, simultaneously a concept album, film soundtrack and allegoric fable of our day on the merciless world of hip-hop showbiz. This excellent album has the band returning to their roots, while still offering a fresh sound and a thrilling journey. The lyrics on ‘First Serve’ remain within the philosophy of De La Soul who always lambasted the rappers’ ego trips and verbal sparring. What’s different about this project is that the two MCs have called on the services of a pair of French producers, Chokolate and Khalid Filali, a rare thing indeed in American rap. First come, first served.
