Théatre National > Grande Salle
Opening with "Ashanti 3000 & Omar Perry"
Different in terms of their personalities and musical styles, they possess the common traits of being legendary artists and committed radicals of genuine conviction, rebels whose inspirations and lyrics are a blend of Rastafarian faith and political and social claims. Max Romeo, whose classic hit ‘War Ina Babylon’ is among reggae’s most famous refrains, is a pioneer with an aura matching that of Bob Marley and Peter Tosh. Jamaica’s first major DJ, U Roy is a benchmark of the rub-a-dub style, a voice forged and honed with the most popular sound systems in 1960s Kingston alongside King Tubby, the inventor of dub. Both charismatic performers, Max Romeo has kept all his original talent and U Roy his renowned musical energy. A pair of icons for a double concert and a memorable roots reggae and rub-a-dub evening!
