Myanmar is isolated from the rest of the world by the military junta in power since the 1960s. Filming is not allowed there, but with daring and discretion, Robert H. Lieberman lifts part of the veil as he meets with this oppressed people. Two years of harrowing accounts depict poverty, child labour, a non-existent health and education system, and state terrorism. From interviews with Aung San Suu Kyi to anonymous testimonies, the report also takes to the country’s rivers as it charts the country’s history.
