The mafia is a criminal organisation that places itself above the law. It is present throughout Europe, well beyond the Italian borders. How does it manage to impose total submission on the population? How do we fight it? It is first and foremost society that can challenge it through solidarity and organised disobedience.
With Claudio Metallo (co-director of the documentary: Un pagamu - La tassa sulla paura), Marco Martiniello (director of CEDEM and FNRS research director at the Institute for Human and Social Sciences), Daniele Sanzone (author of the book "Camorra sound") and Renato Natale (town of Casal di Principe).
This debate will follow the screening of the documentary Un pagamu - La tassa sulla paura by Nicola Grignani, Miko Meloni and Claudio Metallo (2011). In Lazemia Terme, a town whose own council was dissolved twice in the past couple of years because of mafia infiltration, entrepreneurs decided to resist and to organise themselves in order to avoid paying the “fear tax”.
