Return to Homs

Talal Derki • DE • 2013 • 94’ • VO/OV st Fr/Nl

In Syria, the resistance against Bashar Al-Assad has been organised in blood and in ruins. Abdul Basset Saroot, the film’s main protagonist, is a guerrilla leader in the city of Homs. From pacifistic leadership to armed logistics, this charismatic 19-year-old, an ex-professional goalkeeper, is now risking his life every day. Filmed from 2011 to 2013, this documentary gives us a vision from the inside of how Syria’s rebels operate on a daily basis.
