Brussels has always been one of Calexico's favoured places. This autumn, the band decided to set the stage of the Festival des Libertés on fire. Sometimes melancholic or disturbing, their musical universe always remains melodious. Calexico offers a wide range of mariachi colours, desert country and a jazzy space sound that proves ideal for reverie as it deploys the spleen of great expands. After the old Algiers New Orleans neighbourhood, the founders of the cult combo have drawn their inspiration from the sounds and vibes of Mexico City for latest opus Edge of the Sun.
