Sonita, an 18-year-old Afghani woman, lives in Lebanon. As a rapper, she wants to perform freely and be able to achieve success. But she has to reckon with her family, who are hoping for the 9,000 dollars promised for her forced marriage to a stranger. Trapped, Sonita asks for help from her school headmistress, from music producers, and from the documentary's director. How long can she go on fighting alone against these ogres, in a culture that is eating her alive?
