Excellence, equal opportunity, de-radicalisation....the schools of today are subject to a multitude of demands which they seem unable to meet. Faced with these problems of funding, commercial exploitation and somewhat paradoxical roles, ideas for alternative educational institutions are emerging, but what are these other schools? Who is benefiting from them? What reflective practices are they developing? Could they serve as a model for the school system as a whole?
