Their starting point is the same: to assess the environmental and social disaster in progress. Their aim is similar: to break away from capitalist alienation. Their road map, however, differs on several points. The Degrowth movement favours a slowdown, a deliberate return to simplicity and to ancestral know-how, localness and the diversity of worlds. The accelerationist manifesto asks us to get a jump on the opponent, to free technology from capitalism so that it can release people from tiresome tasks, to plan a global counter-strategy to be deployed in places and media of power.
