Photographing Belgium means going back home. "Here, people are captured in moments of solitude, distraction or tenderness. You can sense the end of major struggles, sometimes even exhaustion. And, through this fatigue, vulnerability permeates. Or, to put it another way, there's an openness that raises the question not so much of the end of a country as the end of a way of life or an era. You'd say it's another age: a bygone age, but also an age of otherness: an age to come. A critical threshold. A tipping point. Something both open and lucid which, in the light of separatist ideologies, miracle recovery plans or regurgitated pessimism, responds with another outlook. A call to action? " (Caroline Lamarche)
