A dream double bill! We start with total immersion into Jamaica with Inna De Yard. Meeting in the hills of Kingston, several iconic Jamaican figures have dug up the essence of acoustic music, played in a group and in the open air on a new album Inna De Yard, released by Chapter Two this past spring. Together, they share this unmatched fervour on stage, transcending soul, gospel, reggae, funk, ska and more. You’ve never heard Jamaica sung like this. Then we continue with Linton Kwesi Johnson returning to the festival for the fourth time, accompanied by the legendary Dennis Bovell Dub Band. As a Jamaican poet, journalist and author, LKJ is considered the father of dub poetry, and he embodies the Black Panthers’ maxim, “knowledge is power”. He tirelessly denounces injustice by expressing a radical critique of free-market society in his poetry.
