Sherwood & Pinch

Man Vs. Sofa

When cult producer Adrian Sherwood (Lee Scratch Perry, Prince Far I, etc.), a great defender of the dub cause from the late 1970s onward and Rob Ellis, composer of many bass music classics under the name Pinch, decided to collaborate, they created two highly acclaimed and unrestrained albums, Late Night Endless and more recently Man Vs. Sofa. An eccentric and unwitting summary of three decades of English dance music under Caribbean influence, the sound of Sherwood & Pinch effortlessly flows between a dozen or more musical genres, from punk to house, from reggae to acid house, from ambient to electronic, with coherency and fluidity. And while the bass lines are often heavy, the general atmosphere is relaxed and sun-kissed.
