Afrikän Protoköl

Burkina Faso – Belgique/Belgïe

Afrikän Protoköl is an afro groove sextet led by Belgian saxophonist Guillaume Van Parys, founded after he met Burkinabé drummer Moïse Ouattara. Jazz riffs, grooves and improvisations combine to create a warm and festive transcontinental fusion. With a Burkinabé rhythm section and Belgian horn players, Afrikän Protoköl offers a colourful and dynamic show. Original, universal music that responds to the urgent need to defend differences, open minds, diversity and the free circulation of people in opposition to patriarchal and neo-liberal ways of thinking.

Line-up: Guillaume Van Parys (alto & baritone sax) Zouratie Kone (percussion & vocal) Frédéric Becker (soprano & baritone sax) Moïse Ouattara (drums) Brice Clausse (tenor sax) Achille Ouattara (bass) Jérôme Hoppe (trumpet).
