In 2008, Razia Jan had the bold idea of a free school for Afghan girls, in a country where the Taliban have used violence to keep them away from any education. Despite many attacks, the school now welcomes more than 500 pupils. It’s a rare initiative in a country where girls’ right to education is essential for positive, sustainable change.
