In 2011, the Syrian radio host Obaidah Zytoon and her friends filmed the growing protests against the regime of Bashar al-Assad. The feeling of liberation is short-lived, as the protesters are violently repressed. The revolution runs dry and is followed by a civil war. Many of Obaidah’s friends end up in al-Assad’s jails and lose their lives. The radio host decides to flee, illegally taking 400 hours of video footage with her to Europe.
