A fervent supporter of the Iranian Revolution, Saied Sadeghi photographed the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988) from as close to the theaters of operation as he could get. He dreamed of being a martyr and said he was driven by ideology more than by taking his black & white photos, which were used as propaganda by the government then in place. Today, he feels responsible for the death of thousands of youths and casts a bitterly critical eye on the role he may have played in indoctrinating them.
