These Filipino boys who sleep in cardboard boxes laid out in the lively streets of Manila are just 13 or 14 years old. But they already have a painful past: sexual abuse, drug addiction, theft, murder of close family members... The stories that street children tell social workers at the nonprofit Stairway Foundation are horrific. How will these children live a year-long of psychotherapy, care but also "ordinary children's games"? A Year of Hope demonstrates that education can be a way out of the vicious circle of street life. But it's not easy.
