When an inhabitant in Oregon finds a plea for help from a Chinese political prisoner hidden in a pack of Halloween decorations, it sets off a chain of events that brings to light the atrocious human rights violations in the Masanjia labour camp, which becomes the darkest symbol of the Chinese totalitarian regime.  Meanwhile, the letter's author, Sun Yi, is fighting from within a clandestine network of Chinese journalists and dissidents to reveal his story, and the unending human rights violations in China. Nothing can stop him in his quest for justice.
