After five years of war in Syria, Aleppo residents who have not fled prepare for a siege. The founding members of the White Helmets, volunteers who search for the victims among the rubble of Aleppo, have remained in the city to help their fellow citizens and experience daily life, death, combat, and triumph in a city on fire. Filmed over a three-year period, this visceral documentary brings us right to the front lines, at the centre of the carnage, with hand-held footage that is edited to convey all the power of a tragedy.
