Corruption, violence and intimidation are rampant in Ugandan society. It is in this context that Yoweri Museveni, incumbent President, sought to change the constitution and raise the voting age, so that he could be re-elected. An atypical politician, Robert Ssentamu (aka Bobi Wine) is now drawing the attention of the international press. He has enthusiastically addressed his supporters through social media and during his concerts, with quite positive results. Wine, the singer from the ghetto turned member of Parliament, has revived the democratic spirit of the Ugandan people.
