Mrs Wouters died on 16 April 2020. She lived in a nursing home and could not have visitors because of the pandemic. She died alone and despondent. The nursing home director has been put on trial for involuntary manslaughter. Mrs Wouters’ son claims that the director enforced rules banning all visits, without taking the emotional needs of residents into account. This mock trial will be held on 25 October 2021, as part of the Festival des Libertés.
