In recent years, campaigners from the African diaspora have brought Belgium's colonial past to the forefront of political and media attention, with demands for reparation for its colonial wrongs. What does this need for reparation mean, and what are the aims and implications? What would a satisfactory level of reparations look like? What social, political and economic changes would their implementation require?
