We are at a juvenile court. Nine-year-old Sarah is going through a hard time with her family. Her mother is an alcoholic, and her father has received a restraining order for acts of violence against his wife. The debate asks the following question: Should Sarah be separated from her family and placed in care?
This third edition of a mock trial will deliberate on the placement of children and the questions it raises in ethical, societal and institutional terms. The mock trial is a participatory, immersive experience, combining theatre and conference, both in form and content. It is the audience, put in the shoes of the youth judge, who will decide whether - or not - the child should be placed.
