Le Festival des Libertés soutient l’initiative de Femme, Vie, Liberté

Woman, Life, Freedom is a joint initiative embodied by the Instagram account @iranianwomenofgraphicdesign, born in Paris under the auspices of the Musée d'Art Moderne and the Palais de Tokyo. It brings together more than a hundred posters created urgently, often anonymously, in the context of the Iranian uprising known as Zan Zendegi Azadi. The execution of the young Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini by the morality police in Tehran for a strand of hair that protruded was the spark for a historic women's revolution in Iran, embraced by the entire people against their institutions, at the cost of their own lives or those of their loved ones. Refusing to normalize the situation, most Iranian cultural and artistic institutions closed their doors. Meanwhile, dissident artistic expressions have never experienced such proliferation. The belief that art and culture are vehicles for emancipation and resistance runs through the veins of the Festival des Libertés from its early days. It is its very essence. Honoring the creativity of these artists in the face of repression is a reaffirmation of support for Iranians in their struggle for freedom and emancipatemancipation.
