A professional footballer in Sweden, Zé returns to his native island of Cap Verde and is astounded to learn that there is no sand left on his childhood beach. With no fish left to catch, local fishermen gather sand to sell for the construction of luxury houses. Zé conducts an investigation that leads all the way to Brussels and learns about the local consequences of intensive fishing.
