Miners shot down

Rehad Desaï • ZA • 2014 • 86’ • VO/OV st Fr/Nl

In August 2012, police violently suppressed a miners’ strike, causing 34 deaths and numerous injuries. This film follows the strike from its earliest days and analyses the circumstances of the first post-colonial massacre in South Africa. It shines a light on corruption at the highest levels and on the anti-labour coalition of the mining company, the South African government and their allies within the National Union of Mineworkers.
