In response to the dangers of globalisation for minorities, the Xavante people of Eastern Brazil have developed a strategy for preserving their territory and their culture. They have sent their children to study in Brazil’s major cities so that, years later, they can become representatives of their people and defend their traditions by using methods developed in the country’s west.
