The black residents of Highland Park, a suburb of Detroit bordering Lake Michigan, are seeing the price of their running water shoot through the roof to expunge the debts of the corrupt former local administration. Their struggle for their right to running water at a reasonable price and against privatisation projects is a poignant example of citizens against an American democracy in disarray.
