Alex was
born a hermaphrodite and is now 15. To escape the rumours and pressure of their
environment shortly after his birth, Alex’s parents decided to leave
Buenos-Aires to live in an out-of-the-way house in the dunes on the Uruguayan
coast. When friends visit them with their 16-year-old son, repressed tensions
surge. Puenzo’s debut film shows the fear of the unknown phenomenon of
intersexuality and where
this can lead to: isolation, exclusion and violence.
