Richie Havens is an incredible performer. A legendary monument of protest folk music in the United States, he is just as important as Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Arlo Gutrie and Bruce Springsteen. In 1969 he was one of the stars of the mythical Woodstock festival alongside Jimi Hendrix and Carlos Santana. Today at 67 years of age and with 30 albums in his name, Richie Havens has not lost any of his musical verve or unique vocal writing. A wonderful and masterful performer, he subjugates audiences everywhere he goes, which, at the end of each concert, try desperately to keep him on stage with their enthusiastic clapping.
