When Mittal announced the definitive shutdown of its Seraing blast furnace, its workers swung into action to save one of the economic lungs of the region. Focusing on the uncertain day-to-day existence of the workers during the months the gates stayed closed and their demonstrations to have the decision reversed, this report offers us a view of trade union struggles far removed from that portrayed by the media from “the Society of the Spectacle”.
The film will be followed by a meeting in Foyer 1 with the directors as well as Patrick Leboutte (documentary make and professor at the INSAS) and Pauline Forges (member of ATTAC-ULB, author of a study on Acrimed), in partnership with the Amis du Monde diplomatique Belgium.
Moderator: Olivier Starquit.
