Nuclear waste remains radioactive for 100,00 years. Our civilisation has already produced nearly 300,000 tonnes. Where can it be buried? How can we protect the people of tomorrow? Who will those people be? In Finland, the Onkalo ("hidden place") waste repository, 5 km long and more than 500 m deep, will have to keep its hazardous contents far from humans...and from their curiosity. Ad vitam aeternam?
