GEORGE CLINTON and the Parliament Funkedelic is a legendary group and pioneer of funk, whose leader George Clinton is an immense personality on the world stage. Collective and communitarian, funk is an irresistible, savoury, sparkling, hilarious, delirious, exciting, festive, energetic and joyful music, oriented towards dancing and the communion of sweat. Originating in New Orleans, where it was first played by brass bands, funk began to spread to the African-American ghettoes of large US cities in the 1950s, where it had enormous success as pop music and then as an international phenomenon. A mixture of soul and jazz, funk is a musical genre in its own right, whose sound and rhythmic imprint are still marked by its large brass sections, saxophones, guitars and percussion over the voices. GEORGE CLINTON and the Parliament Funkedelic is the standard bearer and ambassador of funk, and time has not taken away any of the group’s dynamic nature, power, energy and musical force. This concert will be a real event, a great blast of electricity and verve!
