VO/OV Fr/En st/ond Fr/Nl

After La Forteresse (Lichpunt Award winner at Festival des Libertés in 2009), which depicts the living conditions at a centre for asylum seekers and which shakes up some of our certainities about the immigration issue, Fernand Melgar spent nine months at the Frambois administrative detetion centre in Geneva. Men and women are imprisoned there for up to 24 months, without benefit of trial or conviction, for the sole reason that they were present illegally in the country. Those who refuse to leave voluntarily are handcuffed, chained, hooded, forced to wear diapers and forcefully put on an airplane.

Followed by a Q&A session with the filmmaker and Evelyne Van Meesche (detention centre visitor for Ligue des Droits de l’Homme).
