In the middle of Colombia’s drug cartel wars, when the country was the world champion of homicide, the national soccer team was supposed to give Colombia a new image. The team rose quickly and mysteriously, becoming one of the world’s best sides. Two men were behind this success: the two Escobars, Andrés, team captain and icon, and Pablo, famous drug baron and promoter of “narco-football”. But in 1994, the murder of Andrés Escobar ruined the nation’s hopes. This courageous enquiry into the ties that bind crime and sport reveals the surprising relations between the murders of the two Escobars.
