A former bodyguard for Osama bin Laden, Salim Hamdam is a prisoner at Guantanamo, the first to stand trial in a US military court. His brother-in-law, Abu Jandal, was bin Laden’s driver, and today he drives a taxicab in Yemen. As Hamdam’s trial progresses, his military lawyers uncover the flaws of the US judicial system. The conversations of the charismatic Abu Jandal with his son, Muslim students and reporters show the complex evolution of his thoughts since joining Al Qaida and after the September 11 attacks.
