The Belgian section of the Prison Observatory celebrate their tenth anniversary at the Festival des Libertés. Review of ten years of activism to denounce the human rights violations in prison, put an end to solitary confinement and make the closed world of the prison more transparent. An opportunity to re-open the fundamental debate on imprisonment that still rests today on the hard core of punishment. It is possible to resist each of the cogs in this machine.
With Delphine Paci (current president of the Belgian OIP), Philippe Mary (first president of the Belgian OIP), Gabriel Mouesca (president OIP France), Philippe Lacroix (former prisoner), Sonia Snacken (criminologist, VUB), Valérie Lebrun (director of the prison of Namur), Dirk Janssens (director of Malines prison).
In partnership with the International Observatory of Prisons, Service Laïque d’Aide aux Justiciables et aux Victimes (SLAJ-V BII) and ’Unie Vrijzinnige Verenigingen.
