ABD AL MALIK turns poetry into song lyrics. His artistic approach is a cross between classic French songs, hip-hop and jazz. Unique, innovative and inventive, it is a true aesthetic revolution on the hip-hop scene. Accompanied by talented musicians, ABD AL MALIK swings his half spoken, half sung lyrics, which tell of the difficulties of daily life, the dramas and tragedies that characterise the lives of the meek, the unknown, the immigrants and other marginalised members of our society. Above all, his lyrics proclaim hope, love, ethics and acceptance of others. He returns this year to the Festival des Libertés with a third album, "Dante" (2008), that bespeaks his boundless creative talent and the extent and diversity of his sources of inspiration.
