Walls Painted With Rebellion

Slide show

City of Oaxaca

This slide show is an excerpt from an ambitious collective exhibit born in Oaxaca, in the heart of the rebellion (visit: http://laparolequiroule.over-blog.com/).

In June 2006 in the city of Oaxaca, Mexico, the police-suppressed labour strike initiated a long-lasting popular uprising that is often compared to the Paris Commune. The movement, rich with differences, found multiple forms of expression. Artists, illustrators and young people expressed themselves on the walls in support of the struggle. Others wrote and performed songs that accompany the slide show. With the utmost respect for this diversity, the exhibit designers aim to create a forum for exchange, thought and discussion.

Individuals who witnessed the events or participated in the gatherings and people from support organisations will be offering commentary on the slide show on 26th October at 9:30 p.m. and on 30th October at 7 p.m.
