Urban Barriers and Social and Gender Fragility in Brussels
- Discussion in French -
It seems that there are invisible walls marking boundaries throughout Brussels. We see young people who do not dare leave their neighbourhoods, international elites who rarely interact with the (other) inhabitants of Brussels, people in broken households forced to leave the city centre and women who do not feel comfortable in a city "made by men, for men..." Is social diversity an endangered concept? What violent logic is at work in the urban environment with respect to our vulnerable populations? Are the citizens of Brussels aware of the many initiatives pursued to open discussions and bring down the barriers?
The discussion will open with Imagyne, an audiovisual montage (12') by Florence Marchal
