The Wounds of History at the Crossroads of Cultures

Very little of the history of colonisation, slavery and labour immigration is passed on to African immigration countries. What is transmitted is a wound. This historic failure is an obstacle to the mutual integration of Western society, particularly in Brussels, and immigrants of African descent. How can we overcome the divides, stereotypes and resentment to build a shared world?

With Elikia M'Bokolo (Writer and Historian specialising in Africa, Research Director at the EHESS , author of Afrique noire. Histoire et civilisations, 2004), Boubacar Boris Diop (Novelist and essayist, notably he participated in the project Rwanda : écrire par devoir de mémoire) and Bonaventure Kagné (Researcher at the Centre d'Études et de mémoire des Migrations Subsahariennes , ULg, author of Immigration, stratégies identitaires et mobilisations politiques des Africains en Belgique, 2001). Moderator: Eric Nyindu (journalist for Voxafrica.com).
