For some, European construction is a project that brings its members together in a climate of respect and the search for harmony, but others perceive it more as the face of abstract homogenisation or the levelling of differences downward around the lowest common denominator: solely economic interests and the most repressive policies. After a round of analysis and deconstruction by specialists, two European MPs will debate the real impacts of European construction and the issues of its democratisation.
Debate between Isabelle Durant (Vice-President of European Parliament) and Guy Verhofstadt (European MP).
Preceded by a roundtable with Sophie Heine (researcher FNRS, Cevipol, ULB), Marianne Dony (professor and presidente of Institut d'Etudes Européennes, ULB) and Pierre Defraigne (director, Madariaga - College of Europe Foundation).
Moderation: Sandro Calderon (RTBF)
