In Benin, Voodoo priests and priestesses have withstood the onslaught of religious acculturation from monotheistic religions. Some of the altars "discovered" in this film have never before been visited by Westerners. Others, jealously protected from occidental eyes, will remain forever secret. This is a journey, between fascination and respect, to the heart of an Africa that is far removed from enticing clichés.
